What is the purpose of Exercising?
In my previous blog I talked briefly about “Eat To Serve.” Today we are going to look at getting “Get Fit To Serve.”
How did this concept come to me?
On Sunday I was doing my 30 minute stair exercise. While I was doing this exercise I was meditating on Matthew 6:33. Yes, I’ve been on that same verse for quite some time (that’s how you get stuff out of a verse - stay on it).
While I was going up and down the stairs I had a cue card in hand with Matthew 6:33 written on it. I practiced the steps of meditation WHILE I was exercising. This is truly a great activity.
After several minutes of being engaged in exercise and meditation, the phrase, “Get Fit To Serve,” emerged inside of me.
This illumination is in line with what I received in 2012, “Being Healthy is not for you alone.” When you are healthy it puts you in a better position to be of great service in God to your family, to your Fellowship, to your Community, to your City, to your Country and to the World.
Think about it, how effective can you be to the world EVEN though you serve God when you are sick? You can have some effect but it’s greater if sickness is not an issue.
As I thought about, “Get Fit To Serve,” I remembered those men on YouTube with their shirts off showing off their muscles. That for me is low level of attainment. Why do I say this? They may be doing it to get recognition from others and if that is the case, “they already have their reward.”
My mission for getting fit is for me to serve mankind effectively through my position in Christ. Jesus said that if one desires to be great, he must become a servant of all.
What we do should reflect our service to God. We serve God and through him we serve man.
Today, remember why you are eating well and exercising. The purpose is to better serve God and by proxy to better serve mankind.
