Stay inspired to stay on the path. To stay on the path stay in the word. The best way to stay in the word is to meditate in the word.
We are meditating on Matthew 6:33 and the surrounding verses (particularly from verse 25 to 34).
It is interesting to note that Jesus is talking about worry in the surrounding verses. If you are worrying you are not seeking the kingdom of God.
Worry is fear.
If you are in fear you are not trusting. This means that you are not functioning in faith in God. The sense I get inside is, “It’s supposed to be easy. Seek the kingdom, relax and all will be well with you.”
I’m also getting that God is saying, “Who is your daddy?” He is also saying, “You are not an orphan. You don’t have to fend for yourself. You can relax in God and enjoy.”
Another easy sense I am getting from this study is that Jesus is talking about trusting God. How can you trust God if you don’t know God? So, it becomes apparent that Jesus is asking us to seek God knowing that he (Father) cares for us and that he (Father) wants to provide for us. Jesus is saying that God is a provider, a Father and you really need to get to know him.
“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” -Matthew 6:33
As we continue to look at this verse we can see that our fulfilment is not in things. Our fulfilment is in God and the things are just an add-on. What you are looking for can’t be found in things. The thing you are looking for in things can only be found in God and Daddy has more than enough.
God has more of that fulfilment, more of that ‘I got my life togetherness, more of that ‘I made it.’ He has that ‘This is what life is truly all about.’ Your search stops with him.
All that running around chasing after this and that looking for validation is removed when you embrace the ‘true life’ that is in God. Trying to get the house, the cars, the computers, the clothes, the stuff is like being in competition with the world. Being in competition with the world is not what the kingdom of God is all about. That is how that kingdom functions. I have this flowing inside of me, “The kingdom of God is God.”
“For in him we live and move and have our being.” - Acts 17:28
This is not about trying to ‘one-up’ the next man. It about knowing God for real. This is not just acquiring knowledge about him. This is about really knowing him, experiencing him in truth.
If your life is out of sorts or if it’s in a mess - seek God. Bear in mind that this is not the only time that you are to seek God. Your life comes into balance and stays in balance as you continue to seek God. This is why daily meditation in his word is so important. It keeps you focused and centred in God and in his will.
Since we are seeking to know the Father we need to keep John 14:15 in mind.
“If you love me, keep my commandments.” -John 14:15
Now that we have this knowledge, it’s time to seek after the Father who is in us.
As I continued to meditate on Matthew 6:33 I began to realize something. This will put a stop to false seeking. Here it is. You cannot seek God just to get the stuff. If this is what you are doing you are still only seeking after things. Your action appears to be good being wrapped up in the guise of seeking God but nevertheless it is not the seeking that we are discussing here. That is a selfish seeking and it is only being done to get things instead of really finding out who this God is that you claim to serve. We have to let go of the things completely and seek God only. Period.
KNOW THE FATHER
“If you love me, keep my commandments.” -John 14:15
Here in this verse it is understood that obedience is love. We get to know the Father by keeping his commandments. The expression of love is obedience.
Love is also a choice. “IF you love me...”
You can begin to see that there is a lot going on as meditation on this verse occurs. There are issues in the heart that are being aligned with who God is. This type of meditation is causing one to line up with the kingdom of God that is within. Your biggest battle is to LET THE KINGDOM OF GOD REIGN IN YOU. You must let the word of God reign in you.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly...”-Colossians 3:16
To “let” means to allow. It means to bar all other thoughts or words from having a place in you. You have the ability and power to do so. Yes, you do. I have found success in this. You are more powerful than you think. If you set your mind to not let any other word dwell in you except the word of God, it will be done. You have control over your mind. Our enemy is really good at convincing us that we are powerless to resist his thoughts but we are not.
You have to enforce the word of God in you. Yes, there is a whole kingdom inside of you and perhaps you have been allowing certain thoughts the freedom to reign in that space. Through this meditation you can learn how to take back that space for God.
Did you catch that? The word of God is the kingdom of God and that is in you. Your battle is not outward but rather it is inward. You need to conquer territory inwardly for the kingdom of God. You want the kingdom of God to reign in you.
“The kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by force.”
This means that you can’t play around with it. Are you serious about apprehending the kingdom of God? If you are, you won’t play around with anything that is trying to stop you. You will get violent and you will have what you are going after.
Here is a side note: As you keep going back to this verse it helps you to keep focus on the agenda. That agenda is to seek the kingdom out in you. You will spend a lot of time practicing Psalm 46:10 - being still to know God. Being still has a mission in it - to connect with God.
The violence occurs because they (evil) does not want you to have heaven. Since this is so, you have to become violent to take it, actually you have to become more violent for evil comes at you violently to stop you. You have to fight to keep it in you. And because you are really serious about keeping it in you, you will win. Nothing can overcome you in your intent to keep the thing (word) that you choose. You have to override the tendencies that rise up in you that are designed to counter the kingdom of God in you. Yes, sir, the fight is now on. All that is really happening is that the world’s kingdom that has been established in you is now being torn down by your choice and the kingdom that you desire to be erected in it’s place is coming into being. That kingdom has always been there and the world’s kingdom was ILLEGALLY residing in it’s place. You belong to God and you are in agreement with God so you will obviously win. Do not get suckered by the thoughts of the enemy. I am telling you that you absolutely need to keep meditating on the word for direction and strength.
I have fought for the kingdom of God to have supremacy in me and it was a good fight. I had anger, hatred, judgement and other such things that were pilled up in me against a particular individual. I personally, inwardly with violence rose up against it choosing only to have God’s kingdom, words and principles active in me. If fought and I said no to the hatred, anger and judgement and instead I chose scripture to take it’s place. I chose the love of God to take it’s place and so the war was waged. I did not back down for now I knew what was going on. In the end I won. Where I had hatred and could not stand to be in the presence of that person i fought and got to the place where there was no issue in this matter and the relationship was restored. I did this all inwardly with the outward manifestation to reflect it. It was glorious!
The kingdom of God is within you! You must fight with great violence to enforce it’s values and principles in you. When it is established in you it will be what is expressed through you.
Seek first the kingdom of God... The kingdom of God is within you. Go get it!
